Our commitment
The Ashkelon Cultural Arts Center is committed to making all its services accessible to people with disabilities — from the shows to this website. The site uses advanced accessibility technologies per W3C WCAG 2.0 level AA. Some pages contain third-party components beyond our control.
Parking & access
Accessible parking near the lobby; the electric gate opens by phone: 08-6718777. The Hall is wheelchair accessible: reserved places on the aisle row (row 8), reached without stairs. There is no elevator — the balcony is reached by stairs only.
Blind & hard of hearing
A guidance system for the blind and a hearing-assist system are available free of charge, against a deposit, at the box office. On show evenings, headsets are available in the lobby against an ID.
Box office
The box offices are accessible and provide convenient service for visitors with special needs.
Encountered an accessibility issue?
We appreciate every report — the Hall secretariat is available:
Built per WCAG 2.0 level AA and Israeli Standard 5568
General rules and information
Please switch off mobile phones on entering the auditorium. Bringing food and drink into the auditorium is strictly forbidden. At every performance a duty manager, ushers and service and sales staff are at your disposal for any question or matter.
Subscription validity
Your subscription is seasonal, i.e. for the months October–July. It will not be possible to book plays/performances after it has expired.
Late arrival
The management of the Cultural Arts Center makes every effort to start performances on time. To avoid inconvenience and queuing, please arrive about half an hour before the performance begins. Latecomers will be directed to available seats and will take their own seats only at the interval — if there is one.
Theatre subscription
The subscription includes six plays: six fixed ones. Attendance at subscription (series) plays follows the date table.
Open subscription
The open subscription consists of four or six plays freely chosen from the season's repertoire, with seating subject to availability. The subscription is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
An important recommendation
The Hall continually schedules plays and performances. Performances scheduled after this booklet was printed are published on the Hall's website, so it is important to stay updated through the website, the telephone customer service centre or the Ashkelon Cultural Arts Center Facebook page.
Exchanging a play
Subscription plays are fixed. If you do not attend one of the subscription plays and did not notify the Hall in advance, no replacement play will be given. The date of a play may be changed according to the cancellation / date change rules.
Cancelling / changing the date of a subscription play
The date of a play may be cancelled or changed up to 48 hours before it, during business hours only. The change is subject to availability only, not to your fixed seats. If you did not give notice that you will not attend, it will be treated as if you saw the play, and no replacement play or date will be given. The subscription will be charged accordingly, as if you saw the play.
Cancellation policy for performance, play and subscription transactions
Cancellation deadline
Cancellation of a ticket purchased for a performance/play must be made within fourteen (14) days of the ticket purchase, provided that the cancellation is made at least 2 business days before the date of the performance/play for which the ticket was purchased. Cancellation of a subscription transaction must be made within fourteen (14) days of its purchase, provided that the cancellation is made at least seven (7) business days before the date of the first performance/play. A person with a disability (as defined by law), a person aged 65 or over and a new immigrant are entitled to cancel a transaction within four (4) months if the purchase was made remotely, by a call with a representative, orally and/or by e-mail — upon presentation of a suitable document: a certificate of a disability lasting more than 6 months / an ID card, a passport, or a senior citizen card / an immigrant certificate or a certificate of eligibility for immigrant assistance.
How to cancel
Tickets purchased at the box office: a subscriber/ticket buyer who purchased at the Hall's box office and wishes to cancel the transaction must present the purchase invoice to the Hall and return the tickets — if collected in advance — as a condition for cancellation. A subscriber who wishes to cancel the transaction must pay the Hall the full price of the ticket(s) used or cancelled 48 hours before the performance; for the avoidance of doubt, the payment is the full price of the ticket(s) and not a proportional part of the subscription price. Tickets purchased remotely/on the website: the buyer must notify the Hall of the cancellation in one of the following ways, stating their name, ID number and mobile phone number: orally and/or by telephone at 08-6718777; by registered mail to the Hall's address or in person: Cultural Arts Center, HaNasi 82, Ashkelon; by e-mail: galitc@chakal.co.il; or through the website under the "Contact" link.
How refunds are made
Payment made in cash — refunded by cheque or bank transfer. Payment made by credit card — the amount is refunded by cheque or through the credit card company. If part of a subscription has been used, the person cancelling pays a proportional amount for it, for the number of performances used, and if the cancellation is made less than seven days before the next performance — for that one too.
Cancellation fee
In the event of cancellation, a cancellation fee of 5% of the subscription/ticket price or ₪100, whichever is lower, will be charged.
Discounted tickets
Subscribers of the Cultural Arts Center enjoy discounted tickets for some of the performances and plays held at the Hall. If you are a subscriber, please be sure to mention it when purchasing.
Discounted tickets for senior citizens
Senior citizens are entitled to a 50% discount on the full price of tickets to theatre plays (repertory theatres only), subject to presenting a senior citizen card.
Promoter shows
Please note: a considerable part of the performances held at the Hall belong to promoters / private productions or ticket agencies that give the Hall a limited allocation of tickets for sale. The Hall's management is not responsible for the content or quality of promoter productions.
Children's plays
Every age requires a ticket. Admission to plays from age two and up. Strollers/baby car seats may not be brought into the auditorium. Food may not be brought into the auditorium.
Text message before a performance
A reminder text message (SMS) stating the date and time of the performance is sent to you two days before it. The Hall does not undertake to always send text messages, and in any case responsibility for attendance at the set time rests solely with the audience member. If you do not wish to receive reminders, reply "הסר" to the message.
Adult performances
Children under 6 may not enter the performance/play.
Buffet
Available to you at the entrance to the Hall; the audience may not enter the auditorium with food and drink.
Parking
For your convenience, an organised free car park next to the municipal library car park.
Disabled access
The Cultural Arts Center has special arrangements providing access for people with disabilities.
Hard of hearing
The Hall has a hearing-assist system; headsets are available on the evening of the play, free of charge, in the Hall's lobby against an ID deposit. (The box office has amplification.)
Box office hours
Sun–Thu, 8:30–16:30 Fri, 8:30–12:00 | Saturday night: about an hour before the performance begins
Security and filming
Entering the Hall with a weapon is prohibited unless a valid licence is presented. Taking photos/videos without the approval of the event's producers and the Hall's management is strictly forbidden.
The Hall reserves the right to make changes to all the programmes, plays and performances listed · E&OE · In case of any discrepancy, the Hebrew version prevails
